We are a church that believes in Jesus Christ, a church that loves God and people. Overwhelmed by the gift of salvation we have found in Jesus Christ, we have a heart for authentic worship, are passionate about the local church, and are on mission to see God’s Kingdom established across the earth.
In the Beginning
Gospel Apostolic Church was founded by Reverend Samuel Akinbode Sadela in 1976, upon the instruction of his mentor and spiritual father Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, who specified that the name ‘Apostolic’, must feature in the name that would eventually be coined for the Commission.
Before the advent of Ikeja Parish, the church had about 200 branches across Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo and other parts of the world.

The Need
Gospel Apostolic Church was at the time experiencing an unprecedented departure of its younger members. Over the years, many young people clamored for the establishment of model branches of the church in order to have them fellowship under a common platform and in order for them to enjoy similar worship experiences like their peers in the Kingdom. Since our Apostolic mandate was to ‘Go Ye therefore’ and make disciples of the nations, we therefore needed to strategically position ourselves within the global body of Christ in a manner that will attract the youths and the young at heart, to church, through the establishment of model parishes.
The Making
The Ikeja Parish Project backed up by a Godly mandate and the word of prophecy earnestly kicked off in May 2012. Following much deliberation and prayer, the mandate to begin a model parish was received. After getting the spiritual nod from our late Father-in-the-Lord, Rev. S.A Sadela, an outreach team, headed by Pastor Nathaniel was instituted to begin the sensitization. The task of the team was to go round all the church branches of Lagos State to break the long awaited good news as well as to solicit support. In the first of many outreach events, Pastor Nathaniel prophetically declared that the first service in Ikeja Parish would be held on the 13th January, 2013.
A New Dawn
On the 13th January, 2013, the drums of heaven rolled and shouts of joy emanated all across the earth as the WORD of God, which was boldly declared through the mouth of His servant, Rev. S.A. Sadela which is to ‘Go Ye Therefore and Teach All Nations’ through the platform of Gospel Apostolic Church, attained a significant milestone with the advent of the first ever Model Parish of the church, which was simply christened ‘GAC IKEJA Parish’. Praise the LORD!!! Ikeja Parish inaugural service was held at a 500-capacity hall in Jobi Fele, Ikeja. The inaugural service was a testament to the fact that indeed, GAC Ikeja Parish was a product of process. After more than a year of strategic meetings between the stakeholders at various levels of church management, the results came to fruition on the 2nd Sunday in the year 2013 at the Jobi Fele auditorium. Men of God in attendance during the inauguration service include, The General Overseer, Pastor Moses Adewunmi, representing Baba Sadela; The General Evangelist, Pastor Michael Ashaolu; The P.R.O, Pastor Peter Adewunmi; and The D. O of Lagos State, Pastor Solomon Gbadebo.
With about a year in, and as God would have it, men of God were inspired by faith to declare that worshippers would not spend the third year in a rented facility. And thus began our sojourn to Oregun, Ikeja. Today, as we continually hold church services including Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, we are still undoubtedly enjoying the faithfulness of God in leaps and bounds!
