Mark 11:1-10; Romans 8:28-30
Today, we remember and celebrate the triumphal entry of our Lord, Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. This was part of the requirements that must be fulfilled on His way to the Cross. A prophecy was given to this effect in Zech. 9:9, saying:
‘Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold your King is coming to you: He is just and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey’.
This was a prefigure of the coming of the Lord, to reign for a thousand years on earth and His kingdom, power and glory will be totally enforced over the new heavens and the new earth!
The Lord still reigns forever! And He is extending His kingdom to as many as possible. The disciples He sent on an errand and the colt He called for, each of them has been called by the Master and has a special assignment to fulfil in God’s kingdom.
Here, Jesus sent His disciples on a seemingly impossible and unreasonable task, yet, they simply obeyed and carried out the assignment. As a follower of Christ, have you yielded your life totally to Him such that He can send you on any errand? Are your thoughts and value systems totally aligned with His?
The colt here represents people and other resources that could be of tremendous value to God’s kingdom. Within the ‘colt’ lies great potentials, yet, it is tied to one spot…
Another thing to note is that, this ‘colt’ had never been ridden upon by any man. While this could imply purity and modesty on one hand, it could also imply inexperience, barrenness and stagnancy on the other hand…
The brief description made about this colt might represent the situation of your life. However, the grace of God which supersedes every weakness has been made available to you. Every call of God carries within it, a great dimension of grace!
No man can question the authority of God’s Word upon your life. Impostors will ask questions and try to intimidate you, but the Lord has need of you. Remain immovable and unshakable! Stay in the place of your calling… The Lord has need of you! A glorious destiny awaits you…
The colt was eventually brought to the Master and He rode triumphantly on it, all the way to Jerusalem. The name of the Lord was glorified. May the name of the Lord be glorified in your life also.
